Tu mérites un amour

Lila (Hafsia Herzi) is suffering following the separation from her boyfriend Rémi. Although he cheats on her and constantly lies, she can’t shake him off. She pursues him, takes him to task and even tries to influence him via a ritual. Lovesickness has a tight hold on her. From Bolivia, where he set off to in order to find himself, Rémi lets her know that their relationship isn’t yet over. In this emotional tangle, Lila tries to follow her friends’ advice and fall in love with someone else. She gets to know various men, but remains enveloped in a feeling of great melancholy. A young photographer who takes her picture draped in red bed sheets gives her a moving poem by Frida Kahlo: “You deserve a love ...” Shot with a handheld camera close to the characters’ faces, the directorial debut by Hafsia Herzi, who also wrote the script and took on the leading role, is marked by a wonderful nonchalance despite all the emotional chaos.
